Notes |
- Cora referred to him as “Sonny” in 1941.
According to his burial information, he was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army.
At the time his engagement to Margaret was announced in April of 1954, he was Sgt. Frank Nye Carter, serving in Fort Devens, Massachusetts.
Frank and Margaret honeymooned in New York and Cape Cod according to a news clipping of their wedding that Cora kept in her 1950-54 diary.
The Carters lived at 3645 10th Avenue S. at the time their daughter was born.
According to the Green Bay city directories, Frank N. Jr. and Margaret A. Carter were living in Green Bay between 1958 and 1968. During most of those years, Frank N. was a draftsman for the various incarnations of what is now the Berners Schober architect/engineer firm in Green Bay. In 1958, the family lived at 2420 Libal Street in Allouez. In 1959-1968, the family lived at 220 East Mission Road in Allouez. In the 1968 directory, Frank N. is working with Louis Fields Architects in Sheboygan but still living in Green Bay. In the 1969 directory, he is gone and, presumably, had moved to Sheboygan. Frank Jr. was living in Sheboygan in 1981.
In Sheboygan, Frank was partners with Louis H Fields in what was first known as Fields Carter when it was formed in 1968. An article in the Sheboygan newspaper in 1972, when Fields and Carter took on a new partner and changed the name of their firm to Fields Carter and Jarvis - Architects, provides this bio of Frank:
Frank Nye Carter holds a B.A. degree from the University of Minnesota.
Previously he has been employed by Thorshov and Cerny in Minneapolis and Berners, Shober and Kilp of Green Bay. He joined Fields in partnership in 1968.
Carter, a registered architect and member of AIA, is president of the Northeast Section of the AIA in Wisconsin and is a member of the WAIA board of directors.
He is active in the Y’s Men’s Club and resides with his wife and three children at 227 S. Lake Street in Black River.
His obit in the Arizona Republic said that he was the owner of an architectural firm.
According to the Donna Stephenson family tree, Frank Jr. “died of colon cancer as did his father.”
