    Notes
    • In the 1940 census, he was a hired hand on the Ernest Tollefson farm in Franklin Twp.

Floyd’s gravestone says that he was a Sgt. in the Army in WWII.

Floyd enlisted in the U.S. Army on 9 November 1942 in Milwaukee. He claimed a grammar school education and his civilian occupation was general farming.

In a letter to Cora dated December 4, 1981, Dorothy Fish Ekum relates: "Theresa's husband still farms and milks a lot of cows. He took our youngest daughter [Trudy] out for supper for her birthday last night. Her birthday is July 22nd so he was a little late as of going. But he isn't so busy now. They went in a snowstorm and it was very hard traveling when they came home." Trudy died three months later.

In a letter to Cora dated March 25, 1986, Dorothy Fish Ekum writes about Floyd: "Our son says he isn't good. When he gets up off a chair he has to just stand for a few minutes before he can start working. That fall off the hay stack is backfiring on him now."

About that same time, Dorothy Fish Ekum, in a letter dated January 10th, 1984, wrote: "Wanted to tell you that Floyd's (Theresa's man) mother passed away. Her funeral was the Monday following Christmas. She was 101 years. She was in a home here in Viroqua. She had been in there just a few months. One of her sons lived with her. I don't know what he'll do now."

His obit said that he served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He and Theresa farmed in Maple Dale for many years and he was an officer of the Viroqua Creamery.
