Emma Pearl Soine
Aug. 10, 1908 -- July 9, 2004
Sequim resident Emma P. Soine died at age 95.
She was born in Franklin, N.C., to Robert Lee and Sarah Effie (Mann) Nichols. At the age of one year, she moved to Mount Vernon. It was in Mount Vernon where she married Robert A. Soine on Aug. 3, 1935. The Soines moved to Lynden in 1942, where her husband died on Oct. 17, 1970. Mrs. Soine moved to Bellingham in 1990, and to Port Angeles in 1996. She attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Angeles. She was an avid gardener and expert knitter and knitting skills teacher.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Janet and Walter Kauzlarich of Fremont, Calif., and Diane and Earl ``Tom'' Eason of Sequim; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, brothers Walter and Alex Nichols and sister Hester Lee preceded her in death.
Services: Wednesday, July 21, at noon, graveside service in Greenacres Cemetery, Ferndale. Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Hospice of Clallam County, P.O. Box 2014, Port Angeles, WA 98362.

Emma P. Soine, 95 of Sequim, WA, passed away on July 9, 2004. She was born Aug. 10, 1908 in Franklin, NC to Robert Lee and Sarah Effie (Mann) Nichols. On Aug. 3, 1935, Emma married Robert A. Soine in Mt. Vernon. Emma was a housewife. She moved to Lynden in 1942 with her husband due to his getting a job there. They then moved to Bellingham in 1990, living there for six years, and then moved to Port Angeles in 1996. Emma recently moved to Sequim. She was very active in Hope Lutheran Church in Lynden where she was a charter member. She was an avid gardener and an expert knitter and taught many people to knit. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Angeles.
Emma is preceded in death by her husband; brothers Walter and Alex Nichols; and sister Hester Lee. She is survived by her daughters Janet Kauzlarich and husband Walter of Fremont, CA and Diane Eason and husband Earl "Tom" of Sequim; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Wed., July 21 at 12 Noon at Greenacres Cemetery,Ferndale. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Clallam County, P.O. Box 2014, Port Angeles, WA 98362.
