  Notes	Helen McKittrick, 89, of Readstown, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012, at Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home in Soldiers Grove. She was born on Oct. 10, 1922, to Hugo and Mabel (Jackson) Nelson at the family farm near Folsom.  A few years later they moved to Sugar Grove, where she attended the Sugar Grove School.  After graduating from Readstown High School, she went to Vernon County Normal School and received her degree to teach. She taught at Davis Dale School during World War II. She married Melvin McKittrick on Aug. 26, 1945, in Richland Center.  They farmed in the Sugar Grove area until Melvin retired.  They built a cute house in Readstown, and she lived there for several years after Melvin died. She had four children, Donna, born in 1947, Mrs. David Lindert of San Jose, Calif.; Richard, who lived only for a day in 1948; and twin sons, LaVon and LeRoy, born in 1954.  LeRoy and his wife Sherri are the parents of Helen's beloved grandsons, Nicholas, Nathan and Brandon. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Melvin; her parents, Hugo and Mabel Nelson; a brother, Maurice (and his wife Benetta); an infant son, Richard  and several brothers and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her children, Donna and son-in-law David Lindert, Lavon, LeRoy and daughter-in-law Sherri; her grandchildren, Nicholas (and Jennifer) along with their children, Hailey, Hunter and Nessa; Nathan and Melissa and daughter, Clara; Brandon and Sara; her brother, Merlin and Florence Nelson and sister, Annette, Mrs. Pete Sherry; her sisters-in-law,  June, Mrs. Neely McKittrick, Nellie, Mrs. C.O. Anderson and brother and sister-in-law, Arland and Dorothy McKittrick. Helen passed away after suffering a major stroke while she was a resident at the Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home in Soldiers Grove.  The staff at the home took very good care of her, especially during her last days.  The family is very grateful for all they did to make her comfortable. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 7, 2012, at the Readstown Church of Christ. Pastor Lance Lorenz officiated and burial was in the Sugar Grove Cemetery.  Friends called at the Sime Funeral Home in Readstown on Friday and on Saturday at the church until time of services.
