Funeral services were conducted at the Vang Lutheran Church on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 2 p.m. following a short service at the home, for Martin Remme, 70 year old farmer of Warsaw Township who passed away at his home last Thursday. The Rev. T. H. Rossing of Nerstrand officiating.
Pallbearers were: Edward Engeseth, St. Paul; Albert Remme, Cannon Falls; Milton Jacobson, Obert Remme, Ole Remme, and Franklin Thoreson of Dennison. E. Parnell Mork of Kenyon sang, "Rock Of Ages" and "Jeg vil Kjempe."
Mr. Remme's death was due to a heart condition from which he had suffered for the past five years however, he was able to be up and around until about six weeks ago when he was confined to his bed until his death.
Martin Remme was the son of Ole and Ingeborg Remme, born in Luverne, Minn., May 2, 1882, he passed the 70 year mark this year. He lived and attended the schools in Luverne until he was 16 years old. He has lived on the home farm now for 49 years. He spent his whole time farming in this community.
He was married Jan. 8, 1903 to Martha Widmey of Kenyon, who preceded him in death.
On September 4, 1921, he was married to Mabel Baker who with two sons survive; Albert and Marlo of Dennison. There are two daughters and two sons of his first marriage also living; Mrs. Phillip (Mabel) Finnesgaard, Nerstrand; Mrs. George (Theresa) Miller, of St. Paul, Joel and Ferdinand Remme also of St. Paul. There are three sisters and three brothers living; Mrs. Inga Denty and Mrs. Mary Helling, Luverne; Mrs. Belle Dallager, Centerville, Iowa; Oscar Remme, Luverne, Gilbert Remme, Independence, Iowa and Gust Remme, Nerstrand; two grandchildren, Vernon Peck, Long Beach, Calif., and Linda Remme, St. Paul.
Attending the funeral from away were: Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Remme, Independence, Iowa; Mrs. Inga Denty and Oscar Remme, Luverne; Vernon Peck, Long Beach and a number of friends from Luverne, Faribault, Cannon Falls, Kenyon and points in Minnesota and South Dakota.
