Notes |
- She was 24 years old when she died of “Phthisis” (tuberculosis of the lungs). She had been treated by Dr. J. L. Walloe, a well-respected Norwegian doctor who lived 4 miles north of Viroqua. Dr. Walloe reported the death on January 22, 1879. (Dr. Walloe himself died in 1881.)
If she and Nils had gone to the Dakotas, as Cora claims, perhaps their child died in the Dakotas.
Her name in Nils’s obit is shown as “Sigri Erickson.”
Either she had no gravestone or it was no longer legible when the Parrs recorded the Vernon County gravestones.
In the 1865 Norwegian census, she is most likely the Sigrid Larsdatter, b. 1854 in Lysters parish, living in the Stigen domicile in Luster. Her parents were Lars Asbjørnsen, husmand med jord, and Ragnilde Hermundsdatter, both born in 1820 but he in Lysters and she in Hafslo. That Sigrid was born 23 Oct 1854 and baptized as Siri on 1 Nov 1854 in Luster. Her parents were Lars Asbjørnson and Ragnild Hermundsdatter of Aasen.
