- A native of Iowa, he was born October 1st 1898, and moved to North Dakota to teach school at Drake and Towner. He was elected McHenry County Superintendent of schools in 1934, a position he held for 16 years. In 1935, he initiated the first hot lunch program in the United States. In 1939, he was appointed to the first North Dakota State Board of Higher Education. He resigned from the Board in 1954 to become the State Director of Vocational Rehabilitation and retired in 1968.
As a World War I Veteran, Mr. Kidder was American Legion Post commander and adjutant at Towner and was honored by the Legion.
He became Grand Master of Masons in North Dakota in 1955.
