  Notes	Or Skauen. In the 1865 Norwegian census, he is probably the Hans Pedersen, b. 1859, living on the Skaugen farm in Modum, Buskerud. His father is Peder Erichsen, b. 1829, and his mother is Gurine Johnsdatter, b. 1834. The birth record for that Hans in Modum is barely legible but the date appears early, perhaps Feb or Mar of 1859. In the 1875 Norwegian census, he is probably the Hans Pedersen, b. 1859, living on the Skougen farm in Modum, Buskerud. His father is Peder Eriksen, b. 1829. Hans’s occupation is mill worker. Peder has a new wife, Ragnhild Olsdatter, b. 1838. The family, with the surname Skauen, was recorded in the 1900 census as living in the municipality of Jevnaker. The name of the “domicile” is listed as Moløkken, Randsfjord træmasse papirfabriks arbeiderboliger, and for “other buildings” is Arbeiderbolig nr 1, 2, Nedre Kvernstuen, Øvre Kvernstuen. The number of persons listed for the domicile is 126 so this is apparently all of the dwellings living at or near, perhaps in a company apartment, a paper mill. Moløkken was on the outskirts of the factory site. The company erected two large workers’ dwellings there in 1890. Each building contained 12 apartments with two rooms each. A combined kitchen and living room was on the first floor with stairs leading to bedrooms on the 2nd floor. The location of the housing was on the bank of the river, close to the railroad. There was a stop on the Bergen Railway there named Berger Foss. In Julie’s confirmation record, she is shown as born at the Randsfjord paper fabricating complex. Hans’s occupation is shown as “trasliber” or a mechanic “ved træm. papirfabr.”
