At the time of his death in early 1948, he and his family lived in Normandy, Missouri, near St. Louis. He died at St. John’s Hospital in St. Louis where he had been receiving treatment since falling ill at his home in Mexico, Missouri, on November 25th.
His wife Vera was the adminsitratix of his estate. George’s personal estate was insufficient to pay “his debts and legacies.” This led to the forced sale of his real estate in the city of Marshall, Missouri.
