  Notes	Both parents born in Norway. Veteran of the first World War. Sergeant, U.S. Army in WWI. Registered for the WWI draft on May 26, 1917, Griggs County, North Dakota. (The registrar was the County Auditor of Griggs County and the draft card was then apparently forwarded to the officials in Lakeville.) At that time, although he listed his “home address” as Route 2, Lakeville, he was apparently living in Griggs County, North Dakota, as a parochial school teacher for the West Prairie and Norway Congregation. He was single and was described as tall, of medium build, with blue eyes and black hair. He was also described as “not disabled” but was “farsighted, has astigmatism, wears glasses.” In the 1920 census, he lived with his sister Mina Brom and her husband in Minneapolis. He had no occupation. The family name was shown erroneously as “Solberg” in the 1930 census.
