  Notes	Gernhild "Gerney" Sylmera Anderson's life spanned nearly a century that was rich in history and relationships. Gerney was a loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, niece, cousin, wife, devoted mother, homemaker, friend and community volunteer. She was fun, humble, kind, beautiful and was a very generous soul who loved music, her family and life. She lived with the Swedish proverb "ALL THAT IS LOVED IS BEAUTIFUL" painted in large elegant script on her dining room wall. Gerney was born Nov. 30, 1916, in Kerkhoven, Minn., the daughter of Mabel and Ole Flolo. As a young child, she lived in Sunburg, Minn., and attended a one-room rural school. Her family later moved to Willmar, where she graduated from Willmar High School. Gerney married Donald Anderson in Willmar in 1937 where they made a home and began raising their family of six children. The family moved to Rochester in 1964. She enjoyed family summers on Green Lake, by Spicer, from 1950 through 2002. Their retirement winters were spent in Rio Verde, Ariz., where her family and friends loved visiting. Gerney was a member of the Willmar Order of the Eastern Star and served as a Worthy Matron. In Rochester, she volunteered for the Saint Marys Hospital Auxiliary as a Pink Lady. Gerney died peacefully in Rochester on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at the age of 98, with family by her side. Gerney was preceded in death by her mother and father, and stepfather, George Todahl, her brother, Ardell Flolo, her husband, Don Anderson, and her beloved son, Dean. Gerney is survived by her children, Doug, Mary, Dick, Mark and Kim; and her grandchildren, Christopher, Annika, Misha, Shanti, Mariah, Maxwell, Danielle, Ashley, Andrea, John, Chris, and Allison; and her great-grandchildren, Anya, Adian, Isaiah, Kaela, Gus, Scarlet, Kevin, Cole, Mary Elle and Brooks.
