  Notes	Vernon Harris Family Tree Vernon D. Harris, age 88, of Argyle, formerly of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2012. He was born on Oct. 12, 1923, in Dodgeville, the son of Lott and Ida (Dammen) Harris. Vernon was a private 1st class in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II serving from 1942 until 1945. He fought in the Invasion of Normandy as well as numerous other battles. Vernon was employed as a laborer for Oscar Mayer for 24 years and as custodian for the East Side Business Men’s Association for over 31 years where he was also a member. He belonged to VFW Post #7591. Vernon is survived by his sons; David (Julie), Steve (Gloria), Gary, Bob (Teri), Vernon (Jo), and Rocky (Cathy) Roberts; 26 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Averill Harris, and brother-in-law, Roger Gilbertson. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond, Marcus, and Kermit; two sisters, Betty Gilbertson and Olivine Shepherd; and daughter, Sherry Harris. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery with military honors.
