  Notes	In the 1880 census, he was a merchant living with his wife and young daughter in the village of Granite Falls, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Baptism records in Granite Falls’s First Evangelical Lutheran Church show Knute O and Anne later having an Edward John, an Ole Theodore, a Carl Alfred, an Engebret Norman, an Inger Emelie, a Julius Arnold, and an Edith Gabriella baptized in that church. That last child was born 23 Aug 1891. In the 1895 state census, there is a _different_ Knute Neste, this one Knute E. Neste. That other Knute and his large family live in Yellow Medicine County where he is also a dry goods merchant. His wife’s name is Kari, age 47, and 6 children are listed, the oldest, a son Even, is 24, the youngest, Amanda, is 13. Knute, Kari, and Even have lived in Minnesota for 24 years and 6 months and in this district for 20 years and one month. Knute O. and his family are still in Granite Falls in 1895, a couple of entries down from K.E. Knute O. is still a dry goods merchant. Knute and Anna’s household includes six children and one servant, the 17 year-old Betsey Anderson. Inger and Edith must have died by that time. In the 1900 census, he and his family live in Callanwood in Lyon County where he is a dealer in dry goods. Children living with them were Edward, Ole, Carl, Ingebret, and Julius.
