- In the 1875 Norwegian census, he lived on Skøre with his parents and siblings.
In the 1900 Norwegian census, he is unmarried, occupation “Tjenestedreng, almindeligt gaardsarbeide” on Ellingbø søndre.
He arrived in New York on May 31, 1907, aboard the S.S. Oceanic which had departed Liverpool on May 22, 1907. He was a laborer destined for Minneapolis and his brother, J. T. Ellingbö. He was in good health, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with light complexion, blue eyes, and a bald head. He was travelling with his distant cousin, Berith Ellingbö (#9194), sister of Knute Ivarsen.
In the 1908 Minneapolis city directory, he is probably the Christopher Ellingboe, plumber, boarding at 2417 Butler Place, the same address used in 1907 and 1909 by his niece Marit.
He is likely the Christopher Ellingboe, age 58, living with the Scott County Ellingboes in the 1910 census. He had recently come to the U.S. (1908).
Jim has Christoffer dying in 1926 in Minnesota. That death date is also shown in the bygdebok.
