Michael Budnick notes that a Nels Olson with wife Elizabeth is listed as living in Amherst in the 1880 census. The records of the Scandinavia Lutheran Church in Scandinavia, Wisconsin, also shows the confirmation of their daughter, Pauline, b. 27 Mar 1847, bapt. 5 Apr 1847, on 21 Oct 1861. Nels Olson and Elizabeth were also living in Amherst in the 1870 census. In neither the 1870 nor the 1880 censuses were there any of their children living with them.
