Ronald Dean Moen lived February 16, 1941, to January 12, 2021. He was born in Osage, Iowa and resided in Clarkston, Michigan, since 1982. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Mollie Moen, his brothers Gene and Roger Moen. He is survived by his wife Bette of 52 years, son Evan Moen, daughter Tracy Moen, three grandchildren Elli Moen, Davis and Stirling Victor, and Goldi his Labrador retriever.
Ron was a graduate of University of Northern Iowa and the University of Missouri where he studied mathematics and statistics. He was a statistician, consultant, and teacher to industry, government, healthcare, and higher education. Ron was a co-founder and partner of Associates in Process Improvement. He was Trustee Emeritus of The W. Edwards Deming Institute and received the 2002 Deming Medal from the American Society for Quality. He published numerous articles and books on experimental design and process improvement systems.
Ron was a passionate teacher and lecturer from his first job as a high school math teacher to university lecturer and international healthcare consultant. He was an expert birder, naturalist, car enthusiast of both classic and electric cars, and artist.
