Ole Thostenson and Anna Lassesdatter, Charter members West Norway Lake Church
Ole Thostenson was born 26 October 1832 the oldest child of Torsten Knudsen Sondrohl and Marith Olsdatter Sondrohl [ 1807-1898] in Vang local parish, Valdres Parish, Oppland, Norway.
Ole left Vang local parish for Laerdal Parish, Sogn og Fjordane 10 March 1865. He signed out as Ole Tostenson Sondrolejet.
He married Anna Lassesdater 22 April 1865 in Laerdal Parish and they left for America 30 April 1865. Ole’s sister Marit Tostensdatter may have traveled with them. She signed out of Vang Parish for America 12 April 1865. Ole’s mother Marith, brother Knut and sister Dorthe followed in 1866.
Anna Lassesdatter was born 26 Oct 1842, the 8th child of Lasse Torrissen Laerdalsore [1792-1885] and Ragnild Olsdatter [1800-1894] in Laerdal Parish, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway.
The families first recorded residence is in Rice County. Their first child is born there and baptized at Holden Lutheran church on 6 Jan 1867.

They moved to Swift County and settle in Kerkhoven Township. Ole homesteaded 160 acres as Ole Thompsen in sec 26 [NW1/4]. This adjoined the farm of his sister Marit and husband Tosten Quamme in section 26{NE 1/4]. He also purchased 40 acres in Sec 23 [SW1/4 of SE 1?4] as Ole T. Sondrol. He received the title to his homesteaded property 1 April 1876. Ole and Tosten were 2 of several families from Valdres Parish to move from Rice and Goodhue counties in the late 1860’s settle in Kerkhoven Township.

Ole passed away 26 May 1889 at age 56, and after services was buried in the West Norway Lake cemetery.
Anna remains on the farm and the land was still in her name on the 1907 plat map. She died 24 June 1916, age 73, at the home of her daughter Dina Mitthun in Fargo, North Dakota. She is buried 27 June in the West Norway Lake Cemetery according to church records.
Ole signed the 1875 charter using his birth name Ole Thostenson, but added Sondrol to his name in the 1876 baptismal record of his daughter Regina. By the 1880 census he is just Ole or Ole T. Sondrol.
Ole’s brother Knut Sondrol and wife Marit, sister Marit and husband Tosten Quamme and sister Dorthe and husband Ole H. Hande are also charter members of West Norway Lake Church and have their own biographies.
