- This is the cemetery on the northeast corner of Lake Street and Cedar Avenue. It is the oldest cemetery in Minneapolis and is now called the Minneapolis Pioneers and Soldiers Memorial Cemetery. Minneapolis’s poorest citzens were buried in unmarked mass graves in Section H.

In the 1910 census, John and his family were in Minneapolis. John was a plumber. Came to the U.S. in 1904.
The informant for his death certificate was Knute Ellingboe of Milaca. John Steile died of suffocation in a work accident. Sand caved in on him while he was digging for a cesspool.
