- Mark was born in Minot, N.D., to the Rev. Alvin and Borghild Selid. He graduated from West Valley High School in Spokane (1965) and from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma (1969). After a brief time serving in the U.S. Army, Mark earned his CPA license (1981) and his master's degree in taxation (1986). In addition to being a CPA, Mark was a professor at George Fox University, where he taught both graduate and undergraduate programs. First and foremost, Mark was a family man. In April 2011 Mark welcomed his first grandchild, Owen Mark. Mark was also an avid golfer, tennis player, skier, bicyclist and OSU Beaver fan. Mark was preceded in death by his first wife, Marcy in 1991; and father, Alvin in 2002. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Stephanie and her husband, Andy; son, Christopher; mother, Borghild; and various siblings, nieces and nephews.
