Marilyn was a high school graduate. John had had two years of college. In 1935, he had lived in Cloquet in Carlton County, Minnesota. Her obit in the 31 July 2005 edition of the Northwest Arkansas Times: FAYETTEVILLE Marilyn E. Paynter, 89, of Fayetteville died Saturday in Fayetteville. She was born July 15, 1916, in Northfield, Minn., to Thomas O. and Grace Thorson Ellingboe. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard K. Paynter; and a grandson. Survivors include one son, Scott Paynter of Red Wing, Minn.; one daughter, Jackie Costello of Fayetteville; sisters, Nona Hoffman of Ramona, Calif., and Betty Trumper of Minneapolis, Minn.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at a later date. Despite the obit, Marilyn had more than two grandchildren at the time she died.
