Funeral services for Ellsworth Dammer, who died in the Northfield Hospital Tuesday, August 23, following injuries received in an automobile accident on the Dennison road on Saturday, August 20, was held Friday, August 26 at the Valley Grove Lutheran Church. The Rev. Harlan Foss officiated at 2:00 p.m. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers were Arthur Sherman, Clarence Donoho, Oscar Solheim, William Thompson, Robert Zimmerman and Homer Gillespie.
Ellsworth Edward Dammer was born on August 4, 1922, in Chicago the son of Edward and Amelia Holtz Dammer. He lived with his parents at Black Duck before moving to Dennison. He was a veteran of World War II. He was married on January 26, 1945 to Hazel Haugen of Dennison and they made their home in Dennison until last fall when they moved to Northfield. He commuted to Minneapolis each day where he was employed at the Purina Mills. The couple were making plans to move onto a farm near Northfield.
Besides his wife, Mr. Dammer is survived by two children Thomas, nine and Kathleen, six years of age; his parents who now live in Cloquet and five brothers, Melvin, of Duluuth; Walter and Herbert of St. Paul; Edgart of Northfield; Carl of Saginaw and one sister, Mrs. George Brewer of Chicago.
