- Abraham Bakken, 76, route 1, Dennison, passed away on friday, Dec. 15, 1972, at Northfield hospital after a brief illness. He was admitted to the hospital on Thursday, Dec. 14. The funeral service was held at Vang Lutheran church at Dennison on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 2:00 P. M. , the Rev. Jeno Weisz officiating. Mrs. Cyrus Midje was the organist and Mrs. Delbert Ryberg was the vocal soloist. Interment was in Vang cemetery. Pallbearers were Edward Haugen, Herman Haugen, Joel Stenhaug, Alva King, Joseph Flom and Arlie Johnson. Mr. Bakken was born on December 20, 1896, at Decorah, Iowa, the son the Rev. Knute and Signe (Jacobson) Bakken. He moved with his family to Minnesota in 1911. On January 3, 1920, he married the former Thea Holien and he farmed in the Dennison area most of his life. Surviving are his widow, Thea; one daughter, Mrs. Olaf Huseth (Grace) of rural Dennison; three grandchldren; two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers.
