Notes |
- Jerry Wilson James, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed on peacefully on the morning of March 28, 2017.
He was born on May 28, 1932, in Williams, Arizona, the first of four children born to Roy and Faye (Greenberg) James.
Jerry grew up in the Grand Canyon and worked for the park service as a surveyor.
He went on to serve his country as an army intelligence staff sergeant from 1950-56, ending his tour of duty at Fort Lewis, Washington.
On June 30, 1956, he married the love of his life, Elsie Marie Wynn. They moved to Port Angeles, where they raised their five children.
Jerry made his living as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, and after retirement, the two settled in Spokane, Washington.
Jerry was driven by his love of traveling the country with his family and taking the scenic route to get there. He liked visiting friends with his wife and enjoyed the company of everyone.
He also had a love for working on cars, and long-sleeve plaid shirts. He was never without his long sleeves, jeans and boots, even when it was 100 degrees out.
Jerry is survived by his children, Arlene (Gil) Mantzey, Brian (Debbie) James, Cheryl (Gary) Lewis, Craig James and Cindy James; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lee James.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Elsie; his parents; his brother Larry James; and his sister, Nola "Verl" Fischer.
