- He enlisted for WWII at Fort Snelling on 21 Jun 1946. His enlistment records show that he was 5 feet 6 inches tall, was single, and was an automobile serviceman in civilian life.

Ellworth Odell 'Fats' Ellingboe, 80, of Granite Falls died Friday at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Christ in Granite Falls.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls and for one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born May 22, 1926, in Montevideo to Thrönd and Emily (Opdahl) Ellingboe. He attended Maynard High School and graduated in 1944.
After high school, he farmed with several local farmers until entering the Army in 1946. After attending basic training at Fort Knox, Ky., he was assigned to the 32nd Infantry, 7th Division, and served in Korea. Upon returning from Korea, he farmed with his brothers Gene and Marvin.
On Nov. 10, 1951, he married Delores Jean "Babe" Day, at the Wang Lutheran Church. He lived and worked in Woodlake, Appleton, and later in Granite Falls, where he owned and managed Standard Oil until 1969. He worked for Brown's Auto and A&J Auto until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans and served as a member of the VFW/Legion Honor Guard.
He is survived by two daughters: LeeAnn (and Joe) Randall of Nashville, Tenn., and Sheila (and Wallace) Thompson, Albuquerque, N.M.; two sons: Tom (and Diane) Ellingboe, of Blaine, and Brian (and Elizabeth) Ellingboe, of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister: Arlene Hegna of Granite Falls; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a son: James Ellingboe; and his brothers.
