  Notes	In the 1940 census, he and Pearl lived in Redford Twp in Wayne County, Michigan. He was an assistant manager at a life insurance agency. He had two years of college, his wife was a high school graduate. He registered for the draft in Plymouth, Michigan, on 16 October 1940 as Joseph Augustus Burns. He worked for the John Hancock Life Insurance Company in Detroit. The name of the “person who will always know your address” was his father-in-law, Eaner Rasmussen of 211 Summit St., River Rouge. Joseph lived at 11391 Hemingway, R4, Plymouth, Wayne County, Michigan. His obit says that he had moved to Bradenton, Florida, in about 1971. He was survived by a son, Lawrence Burns, of Westland, Michigan, and a daughter, Gayle Vilkima, of Lafayette, California, and four grandchildren. His obit does not mention his wife. Joseph’s son, Lawrence Richard Burns, was born in Wayne County on 9 Apr 1958. He died in Westland, Wayne County, on 14 Aug 1989.
