- In the 1940 census, he is probably the John Ellingboe, age 28, who is a lodger with a family in Muskego Twp, Waukesha County. That John had lived in Los Angeles in 1935. He was single, was a high school graduate, and was a salesman of farm machinery.
Buried in Wood National Cemetery in Milwaukee. Was a Staff Sergeant in the U. S. Army in WWII. Enlisted on 29 Aug 1941 in Milwaukee. At the time he enlisted, he was married, had had 4 years of high school, was 5’ 9” tall, and weighed 155 lbs. His civilian occupation was “gas and oil man.” His service end date was 24 Oct 1945.
He arrived in New York aboard the Queen Mary on October 16, 1945.
In the 1947 Milwaukee city directory, he and Joyce live at 917 W Milwaukee. He is a mechanic for “Deising Mtr.”
In the 1950 census, he is divorced and living with his parents in Milwaukee. He works as an auto mechanic in an auto garage.
