Notes |
- According the 1865 census, Marit and Aslak had two sons named Ole, one born in 1844, one born in 1855. The older one’s occupation, at the time of the 1865 census, was “er hjemme og er Uhrmager.”
Both Ole Aslaksons were baptismal sponsors for Marit Ovesdatter (#258).
From Ove Ovesen’s letter to his mother in January of 1896, it appears that this older of the two Oles had died in 1894 or 1895 and that he had married but had no children. It also can be inferred from Ove Ovesen’s letter that this older of the two Oles died in Minnesota because it seems as if Ove had visited his house.

An article in the Saint Paul Globe, Tuesday, February 27, 1894:
O. A. Kvam, the jeweler, died at St. Mary’s Hospital Sunday from the effects of an operation to relieve an ulcer in his stomach. He was advised by Dr. Hoegh to have the operation performed two weeks ago but kept putting it off and it is thought that the delay proved fatal as the disease gained such headway that medical skill was unavailing.
