  Notes	In the 1920 census, he was a farmer living in Kankakee Twp, La Porte County, Indiana. His father had been born in Indiana, his mother in Germany. Living with him and his family in that census was his brother George and George’s wife and two children. In the 1940 census, he and Matilda and their three oldest children (all still single) were living in Michigan City, Indiana. He was engaged in his own trucking business. Walter had no occupation. Margaret was a cashier at Woolworth’s. Florence was a telephone operator for Indiana Bell. His son George was the informant for his death certificate. At the time of John William’s death, John and Matilda and their son George, and probably their daughter Florence, lived at 502 East 9th Street in Michigan City. John WIlliam died from heart failure. He had been a trucker in the landscaping business.
