- In the 1940 census, she is the Patricia Mary Golden, age 16, living in Yuma County, Arizona, with her aunt’s family, Selma and Lannes McLaren. Also living in the household is Priscilla’s brother Jerrold, age 12. Both Golden children are shown as born in Minnesota as is Selma, age 52. The senior McLaran is the president of a produce company and the house that they all live in (and lived in in 1935) is worth $15000 and has a live-in servant.
Priscilla “Pat” Pomeroy age 99, of Iola, WI, formerly of Amherst, WI and Green Valley AZ., passed away on May 23, 2023.
Pat was born on December 21, 1923 in Evanston Illinois, the daughter of James O. and Beatrice H. (Olson) Golden. Shortly after her birth, her parents returned to Bloomington, Minnesota. Her mother died of pneumonia when she was twelve, and her father died as a result of injuries from WWI when she was fifteen. Pat and Jerrold, her brother, moved to Yuma, Arizona, where they were raised by her uncle and aunt, Lannes and Selma McLaren.
Pat was a 1942 graduate of Yuma High School in Yuma and the University of Arizona in Tucson. Pat worked for Western Airlines in San Diego and in Minneapolis. Later, she worked occasionally at the International Bank of Amherst.
On August 10, 1952, Priscilla married Louis Pomeroy in Minneapolis. Louis died on December 2, 2005. Pat especially enjoyed spending time traveling with her husband, Louis, and their family. She also enjoyed gardening, needle work, cooking for family and friends. While a member of the Waupaca Country Club and the Stevens Point Country Club she was on the traveling golf team. Pat was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst and Desert Hills Lutheran Church in Green Valley, Arizona. She is a past member of the Tomorrow River Lioness Club, Eastern Star, Amherst Garden Club and Amherst Women's Club.
Pat is survived by her son H. B. "Butch" (Colleen) Pomeroy, daughters Sally (Jim) Prideaux and Rebecca Coleman all of Amherst, Wisconsin. She is survived by her grandchildren Melissa (Donald) Hulke of Tempe, Arizona, Kristian (Jennifer) Prideaux of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Jennifer Prideaux of Nelsonville, Wisconsin, Joseph Coleman of Crystal Park Minnesota, Jonathan Coleman of Burnsville, Minnesota, and Michael Pomeroy of Amherst and great-grandchildren Ella and Dylan Hulke, Evan and Molly Prideaux, Finn and Amelie Schoepke, and Estelle Prideaux-Brooke.
Pat was preceded in death by husband Louis, her infant brother Richard J. Golden, brother Jerrold E. Golden and son-in-law Jeffrey Coleman.
