  Notes	There is confusion about this Britta. The First Lutheran Church record for the Household Examination for Hans Findell calls her Brita Olsdotter with her birthday as 16 Oct 1843. The household examination for the Hans Findell family that calls her the 1843 Brita Olsdotter also clearly shows her as the mother of Erik Erikson 1879, Maria Carolina Erikson 1881, Clara Christina Erikson 1885, and Emma Erikson 1886. In the 1880 census, as a very recently arrived immigrant, she is Betsy Erickson, age 33. In the 1895 Minnesota state census, she is Betsy Findel, age 48, the wife of Hans Findel, age 50. They live on a farm in Spring Vale Twp, Isanti County. The rest of the household is Eric Erickson, 15, Mary Erickson, 14, Clara Erickson, 10, Emma Erickson, 8, Daniel Findel, 72 and an invalid, and Brita Findel, 73. In the 1900 census, she was Brita Findell, age 53, still living in Spring Vale Twp with her husband Hans and her children Erick, Maria, Clara, and Emma, all of whom have the surname Findell on the census form. She has had 8 children, 5 still living. She came to the U.S. in 1880. Thus, all of these censuses, as well as the marriage record, agree that the Brita involved here is Brita Andersdotter who was born in 1846. The DeGriselles Family Tree agrees that the mother of those Erickson children was Britta Andersdotter 1846. We’ll probably never know how this confusion arose. Hans Findell did later marry a Brita Olsdotter but that was much later and to a much younger Brita.
