Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sep. 9, 2010 at Christ Lutheran Church in Lubbock with Pastor David Rohde officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home and visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. Doris was born Oct. 28, 1925 to the Late Alma E. and Joe A. Wilson, Sr. in Dallas. The Wilson family moved to Oklahoma City in `34, where Doris was raised. After graduating from high school in Oklahoma City in `43, she began nursing training at St. Anthony Hospital, Oklahoma City. After completing Nurse Anesthetist training in New Orleans, she began her career as RN, Anesthetist, working at hospitals in Wisconsin, Tennessee, Arkansas and Texas. While working in Plainview, she met Charles T. Harden, Jr., where they married in `53. In `54, Doris and Charles moved to Lubbock, where they raised their four children. She continued her career as a Nurse Anesthetist at various hospitals in Lubbock and the surrounding South Plains area until retiring in`87. After retirement, she thrived in helping her church and volunteering in her community, as well as being a loving daughter, mother, and grandmother, while also raising her granddaughter, Elizabeth A. Welch. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in `86; daughter, Susan E. Welch, in `84; and twin son, Thomas D. Harden, in `85. She is survived by brothers, Joe Wilson of Amarillo and James Wilson and wife Jeanne of Chesterville, Md.; son, Douglas Harden and wife Donna of Austin; twin daughter, Shirley Newman and Mike of Dalhart; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials to a favorite charity, hospice care, or LCMS Seminary Fund.
