“The legs of Cadet Ellingboe, Seahawk cross country captain who left for flight training after winning from Grinnell and Cornell, aren’t the only parts of his body developed at the Iowa City station. Ellingboe, who hails from Greensburg, Kansas, and raced for Kansas University, broke the record for “pushups” at the Iowa Pre-Flight school before leaving. His total of 70 upped the old mark of 60.”

In the 1940 Pittsburg, Kansas, city directory, he is a student of KSTC living at 103 East Jefferson.

In the October 10, 1942, edition of the Des Moines Register, he is cross-country runner for the Seahawks, a team associated with the Navy pre-flight school in Iowa City.
