Notes |
- What we know about Belle comes from research done by Pamela Johnson:
In the 1900 census, she was single and living with her parents and siblings in South Philipsburg, Granite County, Montana. Her father was a saloon keeper.
In the 1910 census, she and Gale Willard, a rancher, lived in Fergus County, Montana. She had a son, George, not quite two years old, born in Washington.
Gilbert Dale was the last of her four husbands. She seems to have first married Peter Junk in 1900. Her second marriage was to Gale B Willard in Spokane County, Washington, on 21 May 1908. She had a son, George, with Willard. On the marriage certificate for the marriage to Willard she claimed that her name was Belinda Corneil and that it was her first marriage. She also claimed to be 24 years old. She divorced Willard in 1912. Her third marriage was to someone named Powers. She was Belinda Jane Powers when she married Gilbert Dale.
