In the 1880 census, he and Anna, with Knut, Carrie, and Christoffer, live in Granite Falls Twp, Chippewa County, Minnesota. They seem to be living with the Sivert Arness family. In the 1900 census, he and Anne and their 7 children (Kari, Christoffer, Ole, Gurine, Ellen, Sophia, and Mabel) live in the town of Stoneham in Chippewa County, Minnesota. He owns his farm. In the 1910 census, he and Annie and three of their children (Julia, Ella, and Christ) live in McLean County, North Dakota. In the 1930 census, he and Anna lived in McLean County, North Dakota.
