She graduated from Iowa Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. Dorothy was head nurse on Younker 4 and for Dr. Beverly Richards and Dr. Shirley Robinson. She was a member of PEO and an active member of West Des Moines Christian Church. She was head of volunteers at Ramsey Village before becoming a resident. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, knitting, scrapbooking, being with her family, especially caring for her grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by her son, Bill (Maggie) Crawford of Clive; son-in-law, Jim (Nancy) Schreck of Clive; five grandchildren, Amy Schreck, Erin (Chris) Barfels, Michelle (Paul) Neumann, Jamie (Jen) Schreck and Lindsey (Matt) Motsenbocker and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Crawford, Sr.; daughter, Judi Schreck; granddaughter, Dana Smith; sister, Ruth Ann Hoyne and brother, Francis E. Hoyne.
