James Donald Ireland was born July 7, 1928, in Wadena, the son of Roy and Irma (Van Dyke) Ireland. He served in the U.S. Army in the Infantry Regiment and the 82nd Airborne Division. Survivors include: wife, Darlene Ireland of Jackson; son, Jeff Ireland of Fort Dodge, Iowa; daughter, Jody Nailor of Lansing, Mich.; step-children, Susan Schneider of Cazadero, Calif., Steven Carpenter of Jackson, Karla Thurmer of Boca Raton, Fla., and Karen Wells of Jackson; 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie Hill of Wadena and Patricia Conley of Spokane, Wash.
