  Notes	Judy Kasa, age 73 of Northfield, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester surrounded by her loving family following a short illness. Judy Ann Kasa was born July 13, 1942 on the family farm near Dennison, daughter of Leonard and Sarah (Halverson) Simonson. At a young age her family moved into Dennison and she attended the Dennison School through 6th grade and then the Northfield High School. On August 2, 1958 she was united in marriage to Richard Lyle Kasa and they made their home in Dennison for the first 2 years and then moved to Northfield where they raised their 2 daughters. Judy worked for a number of years as a pharmacy tech at the Erickson’s Value Drug in Northfield. In 1971 she attended Ritter’s School of Beauty in Faribault and then opened a beauty shop in her home which she continued to operate until 2011. In 1979 she and Dick became foster parents and over the years had more than 250 foster children in their home. Judy found great pleasure in helping these kids and guiding them in the right direction. She enjoyed bingo, crocheting, playing cards, spending time with her family at their cabin on Lake Minnewaska near Starbuck, taking family vacations. They also loved going on cruise ship vacations with their friends. Judy Kasa is survived by daughters Kim (Bruce) Stowe of Northfield and Bonnie (Tom) Stowe of Northfield; brother Lenny Simonson of Nerstrand; grandchildren Darrin (Andrea) Stowe, Lauren, Jenna, and Jared Stowe; great grandchildren Mason Butterfield and Andrew Stowe; sister-in-law Donna Kasa of Northfield; brother-in-law Larry Kasa of Cottage Grove; nieces and nephews Troy Simonson, Tanja Thompson, Mike (Tricia) Kasa and Steve Kasa; and many foster children. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, and brother Donald Detlie.
