- She was Ruth Hardin when she married John Bye, her second husband. She later married George H Smith in 1958 and Dalton Johnson in 1969.

The funeral for Ruth E. Johnson of Beaverton will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Finley Sunset Hills Mortuary. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memorial Park.
She died of complications of diabetes Saturday in a Gresham care center. Mrs. Johnson was 79.
She was born June 22, 1913, in Warrensburg, Mo. She had lived in the Portland area since 1943. Mrs. Johnson had worked as a seamstress for Perfect Cut. She also had been employed as a cutter for Automotive Seat Covers.
Survivors include her sons, Eugene Hardin of Seattle and Richard Hardin of Portland; brother, Donald Des Combs Sr. of Claremont, Calif.; twin sister, Ruby Hanson of Mesa, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
