Notes |
- George Milton Howard Kloster, b. 2 Apr 1919 in Freeborn County, Minnesota; declared dead 2 Jan 1946, and honored at the Honolulu Memorial. He had been a Motor Machinist’s Mate, 1st Class, in the U.S. Navy.
At the time of his death he was married to Ellen Adams Kloster, 519 Bank Street, (either Coquille, Oregon, or New London, Connecticut). He was killed or missing in action as of 11 July 1943, and was considered a casualty of World War II. His last ship had been the U.S.S. Runner (SS 275), a Gato-class submarine that had left Midway on 27 May 1943 bound for the Kuril Islands. On June 26, 1943, she was believed to have sunk the Japanese passenger and cargo ship, the Shinryo Maru. The Runner was declared overdue and presumably lost in July of 1943.
