Private. Mustered out 24 Jul 1865, Louisville, Kentucky. Post war: After the war he became Sever J. Haugrudaccording to Worth County WPA records. He lived at Silver Lake Township in Worth County. Haugrud's daughter called herself Isabel Johnson. He died 26 Dec 1920. "Hougrud, Sever J." "Haugrud, Sever J."    In the 1900 census, he was the 78 year-old (May 1822) Syver (indexed “Syres”) Haugru living in Silver Lake Twp with his wife Inger (b. Jul 1822). They had been married 49 years. He and Inger are living on the same farm as their son Ole Haugru and his family. The farm household includes Ole’s in-laws. In the 1910 census, he was the 85 year-old widower Syver Johnson living with his son Ole A S and Anne Haugrud.
