James Stanley Engel, 78, of Pepin, died Sunday, May 27, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 1, at the United Methodist Church in Pepin. Burial with military rites will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Pepin. Friends may call 1 hour prior to services at the church on Friday. The family prefers memorials to the United Methodist Church in Pepin.

James S. Engel
James Stanley Engel (78) of Pepin, died Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. He was born April 8, 1934 at their home on Front Street in Pepin, WI; son of Stanley and Ruby Hawkins Engel. He graduated from Pepin High School. Following school, Jim proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On January 25, 1958 he married Nancy Rundhammer in Cresco, IA. They spent their entire married life of 54 years in Pepin. Jim worked as a tow boat pilot for many years until his retirement in 1983. He had a great passion for hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and by his beloved black lab, Kayla, who was his shadow.
