In the 1900 census, he (indexed as Thomas Learnt) and his wife and daughter live in Minneapolis. He is a waiter in a hotel. In the 1905 Minnesota state census, he and Esther and their two daughters lived in Minneapolis. A Thomas Leavitt died 10 May 1908 in Hennepin County (1908-MN-016683). According to the information on that death certificate, that Thomas was 30 years old and a bartender. He died of pulmonary TB at Minneapolis city hospital. He was buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
