  Notes	In the 1940 census, he was 56, unmarried, and lived in Los Angeles. He had no occupation. Judge James G Kehoe, a probate judge, ruled on February 28, 1949, that Frank Le Borius of Los Angeles would inherit all of his sister’s estate, valued at $32,190. The judge’s decision was that Dr. and Mrs. James S. Reynolds died simultaneously and, therefore, their respective estates should go to their respective families. Dr. Reynolds’s estate, valued at $222,000, was inherited by his sister, Mrs. Maude Glazier of New Hampton, Iowa. The simultaneous death ruling ended the legal snarl of determining whether the doctor or his wife had died first. If, for example, it could be shown that the doctor died first, then Mercedes would have immediately inherited his estate and her heir, Frank, would then have inherited the full combined estates, valued at over $250,000. Testimony from the Hennepin county coroner suggested Mrs. Reynolds died first because Dr. Reynolds had managed to walk a short distance from his wife before collapsing.
