- Jim calls him Johannes Trondsen Øye in his Valdres Slekt database. He came to the U.S. with his father in 1876.
In the 1880 census, John lived with his father in Warsaw, Goodhue County, Minnesota.
In the 1900 census, he was a boarder in a rooming house in Northfield. He was a clerk. His birthdate was Apr 1864 and he came to the U.S. in 1870.
At the time of the 1911 and 1915 Faribault city directories, which included Northfield, he and John M and Martin Ellingboe were partners in a Northfield business, at 401 S Division, called Eltun & Ellingboe Bros., Dry Goods, Cloaks, and Groceries.
In the 1915 directory, he rooms at the First National Bank Building.
According to his father’s article on the samband site, he took in his brother Johan-Henrik’s son Trond who came to the U.S. in 1895. He secured a medical education and practiced for many years in Velva, North Dakota.
