  Notes	Or Næse. Karoline’s birth record shows that her parents were Svend Hanssen and Torgjerd Kiddelsdatter of Oftedal farm. As Hermund points out, the patronym “Gonlevsdatter” ascribed to Karoline in the 1865 Norwegian census is an error, apparently a confusion with the wife of Nicolai’s brother Christian.
