  Notes	Elling was to take over Østerness when his father, Ole 18597 retired. When Ole 18597 divided the Ness farm in 1777, Elling bought Østerness for 500 Riksdaler. However, he was not to take over the farm as long as his parents were alive and he was not supposed to pay the 500 Riksdaler until then either. Elling had not taken over Østerness when he married Siri in 1786. She had been married to Sakarias Larsen Rungvald, who had run the Melby farm until his death in 1785. With his marriage, Elling took over the Melby farm and, in 1788, sold Østerness to his younger brother, Ole. In the 1801 Norwegian census, he is the widower Elling Olssen, 50, owner of Melbye in Stichelstad og Halle, Wærdahlen.
