- In the 1900 census, as Myrtle Dyer, she was living with her siblings and widowed mother in Seward County, Nebraska. In that census, she is shown as age 14, born in November of 1885. However, several family trees in Ancestry.com claim she was born Bertha Myrtle Dyer on 10 November 1886. Those trees have her father as Barton Nathaniel Dyer and her mother as Sarah Jane Cain or Koehn. All of the trees have Bertha Myrtle dying 16 Feb 1915, no location given. One of the trees shows her marriage to a Duffy, from which she had two children, a boy and a girl.
In the 1906 city directory for Lincoln, Nebraska, she was a domestic working at the residence at 142 N 11th. She roomed at 1124 L. She was not in the 1905 Lincoln directory.
In the 1910 census, she is probably the 22 year-old Myrtle Duffy, shown as single, living in a boarding house in Lincoln, Nebraska. She is shown as born in Illinois to parents born in Illinois. Her occupation is waitress at a restaurant.
She is not listed in the 1911 Lincoln directory.
