    • According to his death certificate, his wife was Meta. He was a baker and died of emphysema at his home, 137 E 17th Street in Minneapolis.

      Funeral services for George Ray Markin of Minneapols, Minnesota, will be held from Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer at 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon. Interment will be at Prater Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Chapel after 2 o'clock Sunday.

      Mr. Markin passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Louise Goedhart in Minneapolis at 4:30 p.m., Thursday. He had been in ill health for eight years. A resident of Minneapolis for twenty-five years, Mr. Markin was a baker in that city for many years. Previous to his residence in Minneapolis, Mr. Markin lived in Arizona and Wisconsin. He left this community during his teenage years.

      Born in Union Township, Jasper county, December 18, 1887, Mr. Markin was a son of George W. & Louvica (Hurley) Markin. He attended the Union township schools. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.

      Surviving with the widow are a son and two daughters, Jack Markin of Valparaiso, Mrs. Louise Goedhart of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Lucille Moline of Chicago; and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Charles Webb, Mrs. Robert Overton, Fred Markin and William Markin of Rensselaer, and Guy Markin of Cloverdale.

      George Ray Markin worked as a baker in South Dakota (Sioux Falls, Bridgewater, & Mitchell) during the teens & 1920's. He moved to Minneapolis ca. 1930 after his divorce from Inez Davis. While in Minneapolis, he worked for Melvin's Pastry Shop, and at one time owned his own bakery, Raymond's Bakery, located at 347 E. 38th St. & later at 734 E. 27th St. in Minneapolis. His first name was George, but he was commonly known by his middle name, Ray or Raymond. His first wife, Inez Davis (3 children); his second wife, Dorothy C. Gallagher (1 child); & his third wife, Meta Leonard Carlson. (Inez may have been his third wife according to the HamptonFamilyTree.)
