  Notes	Or Annabel. The FamilySearch item for her marriage calls her Anna Belle Chase. Called Belle, age 8, in the 1880 census when her family lives in Cedar Falls Twp, Black Hawk County, Iowa. In the 1895 Minnesota state census, as Anna Belle Chase, 22, she is living at 511 5th Avenue S. with Hannah Chase, 55, and two others. She has no occupation. (In Ancestry.com, this entry is indexed as “Anna Belle Charr.”) An article in the June 19, 1896, issue of the Minneapolis Journal: “Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Chase announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Anna Belle Chase, to Theron Seagrave Smith, Rev. Mr. Holmes officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Smith will be at home in Newport.” In the 1900 census, when her parents live with Theron and Anna, her mother was Hannah Ja??hoe, b. Mar 1838 in Canada. Her mother’s husband is William, b. Sept 1820 in Rhode Island and the couple has been married for 30 years.
