  Notes	Or Mildred Helena. Mildred was 18 and living with her parents in Los Angeles at the time of the 1920 census. Her occupation was shown as a “milliner.” According to Shirley, Mildred and Ted lived with Ida and Gus for awhile before the divorce was finalized. In the 1930 census, Mildred (as Mildred Smith, 28, divorced) is living with her father, Albin O. Malm, in Los Angeles. Albin is a widower. Living with them is her son, and his grandson, Theron C., age 5. The boy was born in Iowa, his father in Minnesota. Mildred has no occupation. Albin (or Alvin) is either a milkman or a millman for railroad car construction. In DHC’s service diary, Mrs. E.E. Eberts’ address is shown as 633 West 121st in Los Angeles. She and Ernest were still there in the 1954 voter registration. They registered as Democrats. In an interview in the last year of his life when his memory was suspect, DHC claims to have visited Mildred when he was at Camp Roberts in 1944. DHC may have been told to visit Mildred but we can’t be sure that he actually did. She received her Social Security number in California in 1973. The U.S. Public Records Index, Vol. 2, shows Mildred H Eberts, b. 29 Oct 1901, living at 4900 Telegraph Road, Apt. 437, Ventura, California. Her obit from the L.A. Times (6 Dec 1986, p. 79) notes that she was survived by son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Shirley Eberts; step-daughter Murial Kobin; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
